Junior H’s Comeback Album ‘DEPRESSED MFKZ’ & More Best New Music Latin

Published

on

New Music Latin is a compilation of the best new Latin songs and albums recommended by Billboard Latin and Billboard Español editors. Check out this week’s picks below.

Junior H & Gael Valenzuela, DEP</3$$SED MFKZ

Junior H’s first album in three years opens with a trilogy of songs — “No Tengas Miedo,” “En Donde Estás,” and “Errores” (where every “s” is swapped with a “$”) — each forming a mosaic of love, loss, and lingering heartbreak. The themes are unmistakably heavy, yet there’s a tenderness in the way the star balances despair with self-awareness. It’s less a requiem for ruined relationships and more a meditation on the impact of emotional scars — how they shape us without fully defining us.

Songs like “Cholo” and “La Cama” are born from fleeting inspiration, and “Mis Llamadas” shimmer with raw authenticity. Junior H’s knack for crafting confessional ballads glows alongside Gael Valenzuela’s measured vulnerability. Their collaboration LP feels effortless, unfolding as though each track were exhaled into existence in dimly lit rooms, armed with steely guitar interplay, a notebook, and the weight of their thoughts.

Stylistically, the 15-track album retains Junior H’s signature blend of brooding simplicity, born from the ethos of the ever-growing $ad Boyz movement. The Guanajuato-born artist elevates the project further by grounding his listeners in its duality: an intimate one-man confessional yet richly collaborative. Through his mentorship of the up-and-coming Mexicali singer-songwriter, the album becomes just as much about companionship as it is about the lonesome introspection Junior H is famous for. — ISABELA RAYGOZA

Julieta Venegas feat. Natalia Lafourcade, “Tengo Que Contarte” (Altafonte)

Two iconic voices of Mexican music, Julieta Venegas and Natalia Lafourcade, reunite 17 years later to celebrate friendship and offer solace through the rhythm of regional Mexican music, interpreted from a contemporary and deeply emotional perspective. In “Tengo Que Contarte” (I Have to Tell You), the second single from Venegas’s new album, Norteña — to be released this May — the singer-songwriter duo presents an ode to sisterhood through an intimate and sincere conversation, a blend of nostalgia, confession, and sisterhood, all set to the guitars and wind instruments that accompany this moving piece, reflecting the rich soundscape of Mexico. The lyrics are co-written by Venegas and El David Aguilar, co-producer of the Tijuana-born songwriter’s new album and a frequent collaborator of Lafourcade. The song is accompanied by a video of both artists during the studio recording, which captures the connection between them. — NATALIA CANO

CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso and Sting, “HASTA JESÚS TUVO UN MAL DÍA” (5020 Records)

Following the chaotic music video for “GIMME MORE,” where they are seen burning one of five Latin Grammys they won last November, CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso are now in a healing journey at the hand of English icon Sting. Marking their first collaborative effort, “Hasta Jesús Tuvo un Mal Día” (Even Jesus Had Bad Days) captures in essence how the Argentine duo is overcoming a crash-and-burn moment in their career due to their overwhelming rise to success.

Now, with a holistic approach and after doing a 12-step healing program, which will be turned into songs, CA7RIEL y Paco Amoroso present their new song with Sting — a jazzy punk rock song, where they sing about breaking free, paying their debts, learning from their mistakes, and becoming better people. “No, don’t give up just yet/ Even Jesus had bad days/ Follow your heart/ Everything has a solution,” they chant. “Hasta Jesús Tuvo un Mal Día” marks the first single off of the pair’s FREE SPIRITS album due in March, where they will address the 12 problems that took them to their breaking point. – JESSICA ROIZ

Carlos Rivera & Alejandro Fernández “Sin Despedida”(Sony Music Mexico)

The stunning voices of Carlos Rivera and Alejandro Fernández unite in “Sin Despedida,” where pop blends with trumpets and violins, giving it a mariachi touch, while the accordion adds its part for a norteño sound. “Drive me crazy, blind me, leave without saying goodbye and go in silence/ Lie to me a little, say it isn’t true, or take my life, my very life, and leave me dead,” they sing. The song is accompanied by a music video, filmed at an old hacienda in Guadalajara, Carlos Rivera’s birthplace. This track is the first single from Rivera’s upcoming album, Vida México. “Sin despedida” will also be the theme song for the Televisa/Univision telenovela Mi Rival. — TERE AGUILERA

Lila Downs & Snow Tha Product, “Cambias mi Mundo” (Sony Music México)

With a message of female empowerment, these two singer-songwriters, who share a dual Mexican-American heritage, send a message of freedom and pride in their origins in a powerful cumbia that invites both dancing and reflection. It’s Downs’ first new song since 2023 and a preview of her upcoming album, featuring all her own compositions. For this track, the Oaxacan-born artist drew inspiration from the strength of young women who study and strive to improve their communities, making the Californian rapper’s participation all the more symbolic. “I think women are at a turning point. We’re at that moment of taking up the mantle and saying, ‘We’re going to change our world. We’re going to do it,'” Downs says about her creation. The single’s artwork is a lithograph by artist Alex José, hand-printed using a tortilla press and inspired by the World tarot card. — N.C.

Carolina Ross & Kalimba, “No puedo olvidarte” (FONO)

Carolina Ross joins pop star Kalimba on the latest single ahead of her debut mariachi album, slated for release in March. “No puedo odiarte” (I Can’t Hate You) speaks of the frustration of not being able to forget a past love that still hurts deeply. The track marks the first time the former OV7 member has recorded in the regional Mexican genre. The classic mariachi sound — with its elegant violins and trumpets — sounds romantic and even nostalgic in this Ross track, included on the album Coleccionando Corazones (Collecting Hearts), her debut on Fono Records after a successful independent career. Carolina is nominated for a Premio Lo Nuestro award for female artist of the year – Mexican music. — T.A.

Harry Styles on His Love for Italy and How He’s Slowing Down After Hiatus

Published

Harry Styles is reflecting on some of the lifestyle changes he’s embraced recently.

In a new interview with The Sunday Times Magazine, published Saturday (Feb. 14), the 32-year-old pop star opened up about his love for Italy, slowing down after a busy period, becoming an uncle, running a marathon, and more.

Harry Styles’ ‘Aperture’ Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100

Nearly four years after his Grammy-winning third album, Harry’s House, Styles teased his return to music in early January. His fourth album, Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally, is set to arrive on March 6, followed by an extensive global residency tour. To build anticipation, the former One Direction member released the album’s first single, “Aperture,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in early February.

Since wrapping up his Love on Tour in 2023, Styles has largely stayed out of the spotlight, occasionally appearing around the world to run major marathons or being spotted in Rome last May to witness the reveal of Pope Leo XIV.

After finishing the two-year trek in support of Harry’s House, “it was time for me to stop for a bit and pay some attention to other parts of my life,” Styles told The Sunday Times Magazine.

The “As It Was” singer noted that he spent the summer in Italy in 2024, describing it as a “transitional moment for me — to stop working and be settled somewhere for a while. I was settling into that life and a new space.”

Styles said his time in Rome taught him the importance of slowing down.

“Italy became so important to me because I was so used to everything moving so quickly and being on the go, but then I remember going to a café and sitting and having a coffee and thinking, ‘I don’t remember the last time I sat down and had a coffee — if I’ve ever sat down and just had a coffee,'” the musician said.

“I realized the pleasure in just being in the moment of what you’re doing. The Romans are the best at that — that’s their speciality. The pace they’ve taught me has been so special.”

Around the same time, Styles’ sister, Gemma, had a baby. “To be there to get to know my niece as she’s growing up, it’s so obvious to me what’s real,” he said. “It was really obvious that was where I wanted to be.”

Other changes the artist has made include distancing himself from social media. “I’ve made small changes, like not having Instagram on my phone any more,” Styles said. “I feel so much healthier in my relationship with this world that I’m stepping back into.”

Styles also touched on his love of running, which he started in his early twenties. As he approached 30, his desire to run a marathon grew stronger.

“As I was approaching my 30th birthday, I thought it was only going to get harder to start running again,” he said. “I knew I could approach it in a better way now. So it was healthy for me to have something as an outlet that gave me some structure in a moment where I was spending a lot of time by myself. It showed me that I could do difficult things by myself. Running wasn’t about being perfect, or the best, and it has been really rewarding.”

In March 2025, the pop star ran the Tokyo Marathon, finishing in the top fraction of runners, completing the 26.2-mile race in three hours and 24 minutes. He also completed the 2025 Berlin Marathon, running a time of 2 hours and 59 minutes under the pseudonym “Sted Sarandos.”

Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally will mark Styles’ fourth solo album. It follows his 2017 self-titled debut, 2019’s Fine Line, and 2022’s Harry’s House, all of which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The latter also won album of the year at the Grammys and spawned the 15-week Billboard Hot 100-topping hit “As It Was.”

The set launches with 280,000 equivalent album units earned in the United States in the week ending Feb. 12, according to Luminate. J. Cole previously hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with The Off-Season (2021), KOD (2018), 4 Your Eyez Only (2016), 2014 Forest Hills Drive (2014), Born Sinner (2013) and Cole World: The Sideline Story (2011).

Also in the top 10 of the latest Billboard 200, two albums by Bad Bunny bound up the list following his Super Bowl LX halftime show (Feb. 8) — with 2025’s DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS posting its biggest week to date — while ATEEZ and Joji see their latest albums debut in the top five.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units, compiled by Luminate. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 2,500 ad-supported or 1,000 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album. The new Feb. 21, 2026-dated chart will be posted in full on Billboard‘s website on Feb. 18 (one day later than usual, due to the President’s Day holiday on Feb. 16). For all chart news, follow @billboard and @billboardcharts on both X and Instagram.

Of The Fall-Off’s 280,000 equivalent album units earned in the latest tracking week SEA units comprise 166,500 (equaling 169.5 million on-demand official streams of the set’s tracks; it debuts at No. 2 on Top Streaming Albums), album sales comprise 113,000 (it debuts at No. 2 on Top Album Sales) and TEA units comprise 500.

Sales of the album were enhanced by its availability on vinyl (in only one variant), marking the first time a J. Cole album has been issued on vinyl concurrent with its release across digital and streaming platforms. About 71% (or 80,000) of The Fall-Off’s first-week sales were vinyl purchases. That’s J. Cole’s biggest week ever on vinyl, and the largest sales week for any R&B/hip-hop album on vinyl in a year. The last larger sales week for an R&B/hip-hop vinyl album was when Kendrick Lamar’s GNX was issued on vinyl for the first time, selling 87,000 copies (chart dated Feb. 22, 2025).

Bad Bunny rides his Super Bowl LX halftime show (Feb. 8) to big gains in the top 10 of the Billboard 200, as his former No. 1, and most recently released album, DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS holds at No. 2 with 250,000 equivalent album units — its best week ever, up 194% — while 2022’s chart-topping Un Verano Sin Ti jumps 16-6 with 81,000 (up 163%). It’s the first time Bad Bunny has placed two titles concurrently in the top 10.

DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS’gain was also assisted by a new vinyl pressing that become widely available during the tracking week, helping the album’s sales for the week jump 732% to 61,000. On the streaming side, DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS earned 186,000 in SEA units (equaling 195.31 million on-demand official streams of its songs; it returns to No. 1 on Top Streaming Albums for a fifth nonconsecutive week, with a 2-1 rise).

ATEEZ earn their eighth top 10-charted album on the Billboard 200 as GOLDEN HOUR : Part.4 bows at No. 3 with 200,000 equivalent album units earned — marking the act’s best week ever by units. Of that sum, traditional album sales comprise 195,000 (it debuts at No. 1 on Top Album Sales, with the act’s best sales week yet), SEA units comprise 5,000 (equaling 5.58 million on-demand official streams of the set’s songs) and TEA units comprise a negligible sum. The album’s first-week sales got a boost from its availability across more than 25 physical variants (all containing collectible items such as photocards, posters and stickers, with some items randomized), including signed editions.

Don Toliver’s OCTANE falls 1-4 in its second week on the Billboard 200 with 97,000 equivalent album units earned (down 40%).

Joji captures his fourth top 10-charted project on the Billboard 200 as Piss In the Wind arrives at No. 5 with 86,000 equivalent album units earned. Of that sum, album sales comprise 45,000 (his best sales week; it debuts at No. 4 on Top Album Sales), SEA units comprise 41,000 (equaling 42.17 million on-demand official streams of the set’s songs, it debuts at No. 8 on Top Streaming Albums) and TEA units comprise a negligible sum. The album’s first-week sales were bolstered by its availability in deluxe edition boxed sets (containing a piece of branded clothing and a CD) and more than 10 vinyl variants (including a signed edition).

Rounding out the rest of the top 10 on the latest Billboard 200 are Morgan Wallen’s former leader I’m the Problem (3-7 with 77,000, down less than 1%); Olivia Dean’s The Art of Loving (4-8 with 75,000, up 7%); Taylor Swift’s chart-topping The Life of a Showgirl (5-9 with 54,000, up 18%); and the former No. 1 KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack (6-10 with 42,000, down 2%).

Watch an Annoyed Chad Kroeger Sing Snippet of Nickelback’s ‘Rockstar’ for Demanding Fan at Casino

Published

A video has surfaced online showing a hilarious encounter between Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger and a fan.

In the brief clip (via Spin), the 51-year-old frontman of the Canadian rock band appears to be gambling in a casino when a female fan approaches him with an unwelcome request.

“Chad, can you sing for me one little time?” she asks. An annoyed-sounding Kroeger replies, “What?” before turning around and firing back, “Would you shut the f—k up?”

The fan then repeats the question, and the frontman hesitantly gives in, saying, “Yes, what?” as another person with him amusingly chuckles in the background.

She quickly follows up by asking Kroeger to sing a snippet of Nickelback’s hit song “Rockstar,” which peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2007. The track is from the band’s 2005 album, All the Right Reasons.

Kroeger lifts his hand and half-heartedly sings the song’s opening lines, “I’m through with standing in line to clubs I’ll never get in/ It’s like the bottom of the ninth, and I’m never gonna win.”

After finishing, he puts his hand over the camera and with a subtle grin once again requests, “Would you f—k off?”

Nickelback recently teamed up with English rock band Don Broco on a new song, “Nightmare Tripping,” which serves as the title track of the latter’s recently announced album. The project is set for release on March 27 through Fearless Records.

Nickelback’s most recent studio album, Get Rollin’, was released in 2022 and reached No. 30 on the Billboard 200 chart.
