Alec Baldwin to Face Civil Trial in Fatal ‘Rust’ Shooting

A judge ordered Alec Baldwin to face a civil trial over negligence after he fatally shot a producer on the set of ‘Rust.’
Baldwin shot and killed 42-year-old Halyna Hutchins and injured 48-year-old Joel Souza on the movie set of ‘Rust’ in Santa Fe, New Mexico in October 2021.
Serge Svetnoy, a lighting technician who was almost hit with a bullet while on the set of Rust filed a lawsuit and claimed he suffered emotional distress.
A Los Angeles Superior Court Judge on Friday allowed the lawsuit to move forward.
Alec Baldwin was charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter for the shooting death of Halyna Hutchins.
NBC News reported:
A judge ruled on Friday that a civil case against actor Alec Baldwin over alleged negligence on the “Rust” set in 2021 can proceed to trial this fall.
Serge Svetnoy, a gaffer on “Rust,” first filed a lawsuit in November 2021, alleging that he narrowly missed being hit while on set that day. He claimed that cost-cutting and corner-cutting measures on the Western meant that Baldwin, armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed and other producers “were consciously aware of the wrongfulness and harmfulness of their conduct.”
He alleges that he suffered from emotional distress due to negligence on the part of Baldwin and Rust Movie Productions.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Maurice Leiter allowed Svetnoy’s claims for punitive damages, negligence and intentional infliction of emotional distress to move forward.
In a case filed by Santa Fe prosecutors, Alec Baldwin was previously charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter for the shooting death of Halyna Hutchins.
In July 2024 Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer dismissed the case with prejudice which means prosecutors cannot refile the case.
Alec Baldwin’s defense team accused state prosecutors of concealing evidence. In a stunning move, the judge dismissed the charges in the middle of the trial!

Loyola University Campus Newspaper Apologizes for Calling Murder Suspect an ‘Illegal Immigrant’ Instead of “Rogers Park Resident”

Loyola University student Sheridan Gorman
Former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich joined Laura Ingraham on Fox News to discuss the tragic and preventable murder of 18-year-old Loyola University student Sheridan Gorman.
Early in the morning on Thursday of last week, 18-year-old Loyola University student Sheridan Gorman was shot and killed near the Chicago campus by one of Joe Biden’s illegals.
The masked gunman approached a group of students walking in the Rogers Park neighborhood and opened fire, shooting Gorman in the head. She died at the scene.
On Sunday, it was confirmed that the masked gunman who killed Gorman is a 25-year-old illegal alien from Venezuela who entered the US under the Biden Regime. Police took Jose Medina-Medina into custody.
In its coverage of the tragedy, Loyola’s campus newspaper, The Phoenix, has caved to the woke mob by changing wording in the coverage of the murder of one of its own to placate the left’s agenda.
While originally referring to Medina as an illegal immigrant, they edited the post to frame him as a “Rogers Park Resident.”
The College Fix reports:
Campus newspaper The Phoenix originally reported on the charges with an Instagram post titled: “Immigrant Man Charged in Murder of Sheridan Gorman, DHS Involved.”
The original post also referred to Medina as an “illegal immigrant.”
However, facing backlash, the student newspaper edited the post to remove the term “illegal immigrant.” The newspaper refers to Medina as a “Rogers Park Resident,” referring to the Chicago neighborhood where Loyola’s main campus is located.
An editor’s note was added to the original story, which spent almost as much time bemoaning the “harm” of calling the alleged murderer what he is than spent on the tragic death of a young woman just beginning her life.
Editor’s Note:
On March 23, a post on The Phoenix’s Instagram page carried the following headline: “Immigrant Man Charged in Murder of Sheridan Gorman, DHS Involved.”
That headline didn’t reflect the most important elements in the story, and it was taken down minutes later to prevent any further harm to affected community members.
Additionally, in the body of the original post, we described the man who was charged as an “illegal immigrant,” using language provided by the Department of Homeland Security. That language does not align with Associated Press style, nor does it align with the values of this newspaper.
No human’s existence is illegal, and we quickly changed our wording to reflect that.
We acknowledge the harm such language can cause and the power and importance of the words we choose to use. We deeply regret these errors, and we’re committed to continuing the high standards we hold for ourselves as journalists and members of the Loyola, Rogers Park and Chicago communities.

Severely Injured Iranian Supreme Leader Is Waiting for Prosthetic Leg, Will Need Face Surgery: NYT

Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei – Wiki Commons
Mojtaba is reportedly in bad shape, but alive and mentally alert.
Iran’s new Supreme Ruler, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, hasn’t been seen or heard since his appointment in March.
Power is being exerted by Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) commanders on matters of security, war, and diplomacy.
The New York Times has published a new report on Mojtaba’s health woes:
“Mr. Khamenei, who was selected by a council of senior clerics as the new supreme leader, has been in hiding since American and Israeli forces bombed his father’s compound on Feb. 28, where he also lived with his family. His father, wife and son were all killed.”
Mojtaba Khamenei has undergone three surgeries on one leg and may require a prosthetic.
He is recovering from hand surgery, while severe burns to his face and lips have made speaking difficult. Plastic surgery is expected.

The NYT sources say access to the Ayatollah is extremely limited, now.
No senior officials visit him, lest Israel trace them to his location and kill him.
“Though Mr. Khamenei was gravely wounded, he is mentally sharp and engaged, according to four senior Iranian officials familiar with his health. One leg was operated on three times, and he is awaiting a prosthetic.
He had surgery on one hand and is slowly regaining function. His face and lips have been burned severely, making it difficult for him to speak, the officials said, adding that, eventually, he will need plastic surgery.”
Messages to Mojtaba ‘are handwritten, sealed in envelopes and relayed via a human chain from one trusted courier to the next’.
The New York Post reported:
“Although the report describes Khamenei as difficult to reach, it also cites the Iranian officials as saying the country’s president, Masoud Pezeshkian, and health minister, Mohammad-Reza Zafarghandi, ‘have both been involved in his care’.
The report supports Trump administration officials’ contention that peace talks are inhibited by slow communication and uncertainty about whether foreign minister Abbas Araghchi and parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf are able to speak for their nation.”

On Thursday, President Trump’s statement suggested Phelan departed on his own accord.
Full statement from President Trump:
John Phelan is a long time friend, and very successful businessman, who did an outstanding job serving as my Secretary Of The Navy for the last year.
John helped my Administration rebuild Sleepy Joe Biden’s rapidly depleted, and almost abandoned, Navy. Now, because of John, and all of the Great Men and Women lovingly and tirelessly involved, we have the strongest Navy in the World — BY FAR!
John Phelan is smart, tough, and respected by all, and although he has decided to move on from his position as Secretary Of The Navy, I very much appreciate the job that he has done, and would certainly like to have him back within the Trump Administration sometime in the future.
A very special thank you to John for his service to the United States of America! President DONALD J. TRUMP
Later Thursday, President Trump said Phelan had conflicts with some people.

Wednesday’s firing is part of the latest shakeup at the Pentagon.
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, earlier this month, ordered Army Chief of Staff General Randy George to step down.
Last summer, Hegseth fired the general in charge of the agency that released the dubious ‘top secret’ intelligence assessment about the US’s strikes on Iranian nuclear sites.
Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Kruse was fired as head of the Defense Intelligence Agency.
Last year, Hegseth formally terminated the service of every member sitting on the Department of Defense’s advisory committees.
